Golden Hands Foundation
FREE HOME REPAIRS FOR SENIORS

A safer home for every senior — repaired free.

Golden Hands Foundation provides free home repairs to elderly seniors across the Bay Area — so a loose railing, a broken step, or an overdue safety fix never stands between a senior and the comfort of home.

Our mission

“Golden Hands Foundation provides free home repairs to elderly seniors across the Bay Area — so a loose railing, a broken step, or an overdue safety fix never stands between a senior and the comfort of home.”

Who we serve

Low-income seniors aged 62 and older who own and live in their own homes, but cannot afford the repairs they need to live safely in them.

The big companies won’t come out for a wobbly handrail. A senior on a fixed income can’t pay contractor rates for one either. That gap — small repair, big risk — is exactly where we work.

How we began

Our founder, Ahmed Nababta, is a licensed California contractor (CA Lic #1137789). For years, he quietly did free repairs for elderly neighbors out of his own pocket — a railing here, a grab bar there — because nobody else was coming.

In October 2026, that habit became the Golden Hands Foundation: a California nonprofit public benefit corporation, so the work can grow beyond one man’s spare hours and reach every senior who needs it.

What we fix — free to the homeowner

Every repair below is completed at no cost to the senior. If it keeps a senior safe and independent at home, it is the kind of work we do.

Safety repairs

Grab bars, handrails, stair repairs, and trip-hazard fixes — the small things that prevent the big fall.

Accessibility modifications

Ramps, doorway widening, and bathroom safety upgrades that make daily life easier and safer.

Essential home maintenance

Gutter cleaning, window repairs, and minor plumbing and electrical fixes — the upkeep that keeps a home sound.

Exterior care

Power washing, debris removal, and basic yard safety, so the outside of the home is as safe as the inside. (We don’t do landscaping.)

A $500 repair today prevents a $50,000 hospital bill tomorrow.

How it works

Four simple steps, from first call to finished repair. The senior never pays a cent — not for the visit, not for the work, not for the materials the Foundation approves.

Request help

A senior — or a family member, friend, or neighbor on their behalf — asks for help using the form below.

We visit and assess

We come to the home, look at what needs fixing, and document the safety needs — what’s urgent, what can wait.

The Foundation approves

Each project is reviewed against our simple eligibility gates (see below), so help goes where the need is real.

Repairs done — free

Licensed, insured professionals complete the work. Our founding contractor partner is Golden Improvements Inc (CA Lic #1137789), paid by the Foundation at fair, documented rates. The senior pays nothing.

Who qualifies

Five plain-language gates. If all five sound like you — or like a senior you know — please reach out.

  • Age 62 or olderThe senior receiving help is at least 62 years old.
  • Income within program limitsThe household is low-income and the repair isn’t affordable out of pocket.
  • Owns and lives in the homeThe home is the senior’s own, and it’s where they live day to day.
  • In our service areaThe home is in Contra Costa County or nearby East Bay communities.
  • A safety or essential needThe repair is a safety fix or essential maintenance — not a remodel or an upgrade for looks.

Not sure whether a repair counts? Ask anyway. If we can’t help, we’ll say so honestly — and point you toward someone who might.

We’re new, and we’d rather show you two real homes than a page of promises. Names are kept private; the work is real.

A safer grip on the deck

A senior’s deck railing had become heavily splintered — the kind of rail a person stops trusting, or grabs during a fall and gets hurt. We sanded it smooth, so it is safe to hold again.

Bathroom safety, fixed

A loose, shaky toilet seat replaced, and a grab bar installed by the tub. Most senior falls happen in the bathroom — and these are two of the highest-value safety fixes per dollar there are.

Before the Foundation existed, our founder was already doing this work quietly on his own — power washing, window cleaning, and railing repairs for elderly homeowners who needed a hand. The Foundation is how that work grows up and reaches further.

Request help

Tell us about the senior and what needs fixing. You can fill this in for yourself, or for a parent, a friend, or a neighbor — just tell us who you are in the last question.

  • There is never a charge — not for asking, not for the visit, not for approved repairs.
  • We serve Contra Costa County and nearby East Bay communities, including Brentwood, California.
  • If the need is urgent — a broken step, a rail that’s come loose — say so in the description and we’ll prioritize it.

Thank you — this is a preview of the request form, so nothing was sent. When the Foundation opens requests, this is exactly how simple it will be.

Support us

The most valuable thing you can give right now isn’t money — it’s a name. A senior who needs us. A pair of skilled hands. A neighbor who hears about us.

An honest note about donations

Golden Hands Foundation is a newly incorporated California nonprofit. We are preparing our application for federal 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status (Form 1023) — it has not been approved yet.

That means donations are not yet tax-deductible. We won’t pretend otherwise, and we’re not asking for money until we can accept it properly. The moment our status is approved, we’ll announce it here — clearly and proudly.

Refer a senior

Know an older neighbor living with a broken step, a loose rail, a bathroom that’s become a hazard? Use the request form above and tell us. A referral costs nothing and can prevent a fall.

Volunteer your skills

Tradespeople, handypeople, drivers, friendly visitors — if you have time or a skill, there is a senior near you who could use both. Skilled volunteers work alongside licensed professionals.

Spread the word

Tell your church, your senior center, your neighborhood group. Most seniors who need help never ask for it — they hear about it from someone they trust. Be that someone.
